The Benefits of Coaching

Any time that someone considers making an investment, they want to know what their return will be. The same is true for coaching. If you invest in coaching, what will you gain? I’m glad you asked! Let’s look at some of the benefits you could reap if you decide to give coaching a try.

1. Growth in Self-Awareness

Self-awareness is the ability to identify and understand your own feelings and tendencies. Many people grow very little in their life because they never gain this ability. Coaching provides another perspective on you, someone who can hold a mirror up to yourself and help you see things you can’t. A coach can ask questions and provide insight to help you understand why you feel stuck, confused, or keep repeating the same patterns or bad habits. No one talks to you more than you, and you are skilled at not telling yourself the truth. A coach can help break that cycle.

2. Growth in Self-Management

It’s one thing to become self-aware, but self-awareness itself is not the goal. In fact, some people can be very aware of some of their emotions and motivations but do very little with them. Self-management is the art of adjusting your thoughts and actions to what is true, good, and healthy. Coaching can help you determine strategies for adjusting your thoughts and actions so that you step into the change you want to see.

3. Growth in Social Awareness

Social awareness is the ability to accurately pick up on others’ emotions and perspectives. How many times have we put ourselves into embarrassing situations because we misread or misinterpreted someone else’s words or intentions? We may have even hurt them or experienced hurt ourselves. Social awareness helps us more accurately understand others. We learn tools such as active listening and asking questions that helps us see their perspectives.

4. Growth in Relationship Management

As we become aware of others and their perspectives, we can have better relationships with them. The ability to effectively manage interactions and relationships with others is relationship management. If you gain a better understanding of a coworker’s frustration or a spouse’s sadness, but have no ability to respond, you’re only halfway there. A coach’s perspective on your relational issues can be invaluable to taking the right steps to manage them effectively.

These benefits are only the starting point of all the ways that coaching can benefit you. Investing in your own transformation and relational health has the potential to impact every area of your life. We’re ready to listen to your coaching questions and get you started today!
